We are proud to have technical collaboration with SIDERTRADING, Italy, to offer a quick nozzle change mechanism called CRB 08 . This advanced technology is used in tundishes to control and shut off the flow of metal to each strand.


Quick Nozzle Changer Mechanism (CRB 08)

The CRB 08 mechanism allows for precise and rapid adjustments of metal flow from the tundish to the mould, ensuring better control during continuous casting processes. This solution enhances the efficiency and safety of steel production, providing reliable flow management.

Characteristics:

  • The net weight of the mechanism, assembled with refractories, is only 19.5 kg. The frame design and material guarantee high stiffness and strength properties.
  • The CRB 08 mechanism is engineered to meet all casting requirements, such as:
    1. Extended casting sequence
    2. Extended tundish lining life
    3. Maintaining tundish level for maximum quality
    4. Restarting at the desired speed
    5. Changing nozzles on individual strands
    6. Emergency blanking and later restart
    7. All refractories installed inside the mechanism
  • The mechanism includes:
    1. Two main structural parts that clamp the spring pads and the refractories,
    2. A double-opening hinge,
    3. A blind nozzle inserted in standby operation after the nozzle changing procedure

Safe Operation:

To significantly increase operational safety, the system includes:

  • Two independent spring pads for enhanced safety
  • Mechanical devices that prevent improper operation of the cylinder
  • High coaxial precision when changing the refractory nozzle
  • An upper nozzle with a round section and a flying nozzle with a square section, inscribed inside the upper nozzle to maximize surface contact
  • A preparation/testing table that, during refractory preparation, allows for spring checks through a load digital cell without additional auxiliary operations

This system provides:

  • Increased operational safety
  • Fast and frequent spring control
  • Reduced downtime (no need to disassemble the springs from the main structure)
